Redefine the delivery of allied health and social work education with Edinburgh Napier University

of practice in nursing: adult, child health, mental health and learning disabilities.

As part of this commitment we are excited to announce our ambitious plans to diversify and provide new educational programmes at pre and post-registration level for allied health and social work professions, uniquely informed by innovative applied research.
We are recruiting the first of a new team of academics to lead this exciting new development; as our associate professor of occupational therapy you will have a pivotal role in this. We will give you the autonomy to design our new, ground-breaking programmes in occupational therapy. We will support you to work beyond the traditional boundaries and make entrepreneurship and innovation key to our curricula. You will work with others across physiotherapy and social work to foster an inter-professional approach to educational delivery from the outset, and will have steer in recruiting further professionals to support our new programmes.

Who Are We Looking For?
Along with a post-graduate qualification in teaching and learning, the successful candidate will require strong academic leadership and engagement with practice to secure quality clinical placements. Research and scholarly activity will be essential to inform curricula and demonstrate impact, as such you should bring a national reputation for excellence in healthcare education, research and scholarly activity to the role - and should be committed to developing your reputation in this area.
As your immediate priority will be the development and approval of pre and post registration programmes of education for occupational therapy; a professional qualification in occupational therapy is essential, along with eligibility for registration with the Healthcare Professional Council (HCPC).
You must be ambitious and enthusiastic about both cross-disciplinary and collaborative working across the University and in practice. You will also be prepared to engage in overseas teaching and scholarly activity where required.
