Edinburgh Napier is one of the largest providers of nursing and midwifery education in Scotland; with a further significant profile across the wider UK and a strong transnational education portfolio. Uniquely, in Scotland, the School offers midwifery and
all four fields of practice in nursing: adult, child health, mental health and learning disabilities.
Research in psychological trauma in Edinburgh Napier University is pioneering. In collaboration with an international team, we currently run a number of externally funded projects in psychological trauma on classification of disorders of traumatic stress, theoretical modelling of factors explaining the impact of psychological trauma on health and wellbeing and the usefulness of interventions to alleviate distress following psychological trauma.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a research fellow, on a 9 month fixed term contract basis, to offer support to one of our Professors, Professor Thanos Karatzias, on a diverse range of new and existing projects on psychological trauma. Key duties will include developing research protocols with senior researchers, the NHS and other Higher Education Institutions, undertaking data analysis, report writing and dissemination.
Candidates will be ambitious and enthusiastic and will bring experience or a strong interest within research into psychological trauma. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant area, experience of quantitative data analysis and knowledge of mental health issues. Qualitative or mixed methods experience is desirable. A healthcare qualification will be an advantage.
