We are
a truly international University with over 18,000 students from 110 countries. As one of Scotland's top universities for graduate employability with 95.4% (HESA 2013), we have ambitious plans to grow in size and further strengthen our academic reputation.
Our School of Applied Sciences is recognised for the quality of its educational provision, the employability of our graduates and the international reputation and partnerships in specific research areas. The Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences subject group is based within our GBP 60 million Sighthill campus. Our facilities are among the best in the UK, and include a biomechanics laboratory (approx. 250m2) full equipped with a 12 camera 3D motion capture system, integrated and portable force plates, wireless EMG, isokinetic dynamometer and other key hard and software.
There are high quality research staff members and postgraduate student populations within the group; working on topics from biomechanics of golf, physiotherapy interventions for clinical populations, return to play in professional football, to computer modelling in measuring concussion in rugby union.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a lecturer in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics to join our enthusiastic team of Sport and Exercise Scientists running successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as carrying out international level research. We are particularly interested in applicants who have been successful in external research grant applications, and who have an experience of working collaboratively/with external partners.
You must have:
A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline (Sport/Exercise Biomechanics possibly relating to Coach Development).
Evidence of a professional academic research profile, alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development
Experience of research led teaching and/or training
Demonstrable evidence of a teaching specialisation in biomechanics.
