Research Assistant, Full Time, Fixed Term (up to 12 months)
We are currently looking for a Research Assistant to join our Centre of Offsite Construction and Innovation Structures within the School of Engineering and the Built Environment (SEBE)
The Centre for Offsite Construction and Innovation Structures undertakes research and commercial activities to improve the delivery of the built environment via pre-manufactured approaches. COCIS has active projects developing technical solutions for the offsite sector with a particular emphasis on timber technologies working closely with industry partners and government agencies. The project work of COCIS includes the exploration of manufacturing engineered timber products such as Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) from UK resource and the development of technical solutions for advanced panelised and roofing systems for manufacturers. COCIS also undertakes productivity, market assessment and capacity project work on behalf of the sector and acts as academic lead for Offsite Solutions Scotland, a co-operative of leading timber offsite construction providers in Scotland. The work of COCIS is embedded into teaching content at undergrad and postgraduate levels and also delivered to professionals via Continual Professional Development.
The role
As Research Assistant you will be facilitating outreach activities supporting the finalisation of project reports, academic publications and content for presentation purpose. You will work across a range of project activities providing technical support and will be actively involved in test work, data processing and technical reporting as well as creating technical drawings or digital Building Information modelling entities for the exchange of information and/or communication purposes.
You will support the creation of outreach material including academic paper writing and materials for public displays including infographics and poster presentation. Additionally you may also be required to facilitate the creation of other media material including the editing of video content. You will support capacity and market assessment reviews and productivity analyses of the sector undertaking both qualitative and quantitative assessment processes engaging with industry partners and stakeholders. In addition you will develop skills content on offsite and industrialised time construction ensuring you are working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.

Salary: £26,243 – £31,302 per annum (Grade 4)
