Law forms part of the Accountancy, Finance and Law subject grouping and is a key and forward thinking subject area within the Business School. The School's Business Plan 2017-2020 and growth strategy specifically includes the establishment of an LLM/MSc Mental Health and Capacity Law and other possible interdisciplinary MSc programmes.
The Law staff currently deliver a highly successful LLB (Hons) programme with various in routes which has consistently high NSS ratings. The Law subject group research activity is mainly concentrated in the area of social justice and is particularly known for its successful Centre for Mental Health and Capacity Law.
The Role
A unique opportunity has arisen for an established and motivated academic to play a pivotal role in taking forward the work of the Law subject group. The applicant must therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to lead the subject group to, together with its professor and other staff members, achieve and drive forward its strategic objectives. At the same time, the role will enable the applicant to further develop and enhance their own academic profile.
The ideal applicant will have a proven research activity track record in areas that will compliment and expand our existing research strengths, and make a significant contribution to our intended REF2021 submission and to research and knowledge exchange income generation. We are particularly seeking to augment our research activity and profile in the area of relevant national and international law and policy relating to the delivery of physical and mental health and social care services in the public, private and third sectors particularly, but not necessarily exclusively, to support the work of the Centre for Mental Health and Capacity Law.
The applicant will also be required to contribute to learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and masters and doctoral supervisions and must be prepared to deliver undergraduate modules in Business Law and Company Law on the LLB programme.
Who We Are Looking For
Applicants must demonstrate:
*A doctoral level qualification in Law
*Evidence of generating external funding or successful research collaboration
*Evidence of a professional or academic and research profile, including high-quality publications
*Sufficient breadth and depth of experience in specialism to develop high quality teaching/learning and research programmes and have experience of research-led teaching and/or training
*Proven track record in leading and managing within a team environment
