New Lectureship in Surveying, Full Time, Permanent
The School of Engineering and the Built Environment (SEBE) is delighted to offer new 3 Lectureships in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate Surveying.
The School has experienced a growth of under and post-graduate programmes in Surveying over the past decade. In addition to the suite of undergraduate programmes in Architectural Technology, Construction Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate Surveying, the School now also offers equivalent post-graduate programmes available on-Campus and Online.
The School has an active research programme in areas of engineering, transportation policy, sustainable energy and construction with funding from research councils, government and industry. Our brand new Trimble Technology Lab provides state-of-the-art tools and technologies for research in architecture, engineering and construction. The School is closely involved with the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, hosts the Built Environment Exchange (beX) and is partner in the Housing, Construction and Infrastructure Skills Gateway funded by the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal.
Construction and Surveying is now one of the principal and distinctive features of the School and as a result the University is keen to appoint 3 new Lecturers in Surveying able to capitalise on this, be it by contributing to the growing teaching and learning portfolio, or by further enhancing the research effort.
The roles
As Lecturers in Surveying, you shall be expected to deliver high-quality teaching and learning and contribute to the School’s growing reputation. You shall also be expected to conduct high-quality research able to meet the growing scientific and technological expectations of the sector.
In terms of teaching and learning, the 3 posts shall contribute to the development of the School’s Masters in Construction Project Management, Real Estate Investment and Management and Environmental Sustainability, as well as the under-graduate Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate Surveying programmes. In terms of research, the successful candidate shall be invited to conduct research in the field of smart energy and sustainable construction.
Specific roles:
Building Surveying: survey and measurement, design and building standards and building management.
Quantity Surveying: construction cost studies, commercial management and professional practice.
Real Estate Surveying: property value studies, property valuation, consultancy and environmental sustainability.
