The Social Sciences Subject Group is a multi-disciplinary team, and our teaching portfolio currently includes undergraduate, postgraduate and international programmes in Social Sciences (Sociology, Geography and History) and Criminology. The group's ambitions include developing international level research and inter-disciplinary postgraduate programmes.
We are currently looking to appoint a lecturer in the area of Sociology, wh
o
fits with the subject group's current research strengths and to deliver high quality teaching.
What are we looking for?
Essential to this position is a PhD in Sociology.
The successful candidate will have an emerging international reputation in the discipline of Sociology and will be expected to deliver high quality research publications ahead of REF2021. They will also be expected to deliver bids for external research funding and demonstrate a commitment to achieving research impact. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to the successful delivery and innovation of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in social sciences. We would expect applicants to have experience of undergraduate teaching along with knowledge of social theory, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
We are especially interested in hearing from candidates with a specialism in one (or more) of the following areas: sociology of work and organisations; social inequalities; social policy; educational sociology; race and ethnicity; digital sociology; cultural sociology.
