We are recruiting for a Business Development and Relationship Manager to join our Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) department. RIE offers professional services for research and knowledge exchange (R&KE), providing support and advice on best practice across the six academic Schools to achieve the aims of our University Strategy. We have a dedicated team assisting academics and research students across the University.
The RoleAs the Business Development and Relationship Manager, you will contribute to the delivery of the School Strategy with a particular focus on research & innovation. This is a broad, but exciting remit. You will be responsible for driving and facilitating business engagement activity across a portfolio of Knowledge Exchange (KE) activity related to the strategic focus of the academic School and their strategy for external engagement and KE income generation: this could include Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, collaborative R&D, supporting the development of CPD provisions and consultancy, and proactively developing and managing exploitation of the School’s IP portfolio.
A major part of the role is generating new business relationships and the ongoing cultivation of existing business relationships through activities such as:
What Are We Looking ForYou should have a strong technical background and you must be able to translate research into solutions aligned to business needs. Alongside significant experience in relationship development, excellent networking skills are critical to the role with experience of generating new business relationships to make a significant contribution in achieving our KE ambition. You will have a good knowledge and understanding of intellectual property management in the Higher Education sector, as well as a good working knowledge of European, UK and Scottish Government sources of grant support for Universities through industry interaction.To view the full role profile, please click here.

Salary: £40,322 - £49,553 per annum (Grade 6)
